The first step in the construction process is the laying of fondations.

Depending on the streng of the ground, different types of foundation can be used.

Where poor ground conditions are prevalent, piled foundations will be typically used.

This technique enables loads from the structure to be transferred to competent ground strata.

Steel bearing piles are driven into the ground to a depth determined from the site investigation and the design calculations.

Pile caps and ground beams are used to transfer the loads from the structure to the ground.

Where lower loads required or better ground conditions are prevalent then pad or strip foundations may be used.

These comprise of a reinforced concrete pad that distributes the loading from the structure to a level that can be resisted by the ground.

Steel holding down bolts are cast into the concrete foundations ready to accept the factory made steel components
